Eligibility — What Qualifies and What Doesn't

Not all diabetic supplies are eligible for our buyback program. These questions cover the most common eligibility scenarios so you can quickly determine whether your items qualify before reaching out.

  • What types of diabetic supplies does Zaks buy?

We buy select sealed, unopened diabetic supplies including test strips, CGM supplies (such as sensors and transmitters), and other qualifying diabetic products. Each item is evaluated individually based on brand, condition, expiration date, and current market demand.
  • What condition do supplies need to be in?

Items must be factory-sealed, unused, undamaged, and unexpired. We do not accept opened, used, expired, tampered-with, damaged, recalled, or "not for resale" items under any circumstances.
  • What items does Zaks never buy?

We do not buy lancets, needles, syringes, inhalers, insulin, prescription medications, or insulin pumps or devices that are prefilled with insulin or medication. These items are excluded from our buyback program regardless of condition.
  • Can I sell supplies if the box is opened but the contents are unused?

No. We require that all items be in their original factory-sealed packaging. An opened box does not qualify even if the contents appear untouched.
  • What if my supplies are close to their expiration date?

Expiration date is one of the factors we evaluate during our inspection. Supplies very close to expiration may be declined or may receive a reduced offer depending on how much time remains and current demand. We recommend contacting us before sending supplies to confirm eligibility.

The Quote Process and Payment

Here's how the process works from your first contact to receiving payment — no surprises, no complicated steps.

  • How do I request a quote?

Start by filling out the quote request form on our Contact Us page. Provide details about the supplies you have — including the brand, product type, quantity, and expiration date. We'll review your information and follow up with an offer.
  • Do I need to visit a physical location to sell my supplies?

No. Our process is designed to be convenient and local. We serve customers throughout Silver Spring, Washington DC, College Park, Annapolis, and Arlington, Virginia. Contact us first and we will walk you through the next steps based on your location.
  • How long does the process take?

Most quote requests receive a response within one to two business days. Once terms are agreed upon and supplies are inspected and confirmed eligible, payment is made promptly.
  • How does Zaks pay?

Payment details are communicated during the quote process. We aim to make payment fast and straightforward once the inspection confirms that supplied items match what was described in the quote request.
  • Is the quote guaranteed?

Quotes are subject to inspection and verification of the product's condition, expiration date, brand, quantity, and current market demand. A quote provided before inspection is an estimate; final payment is confirmed after we verify the items in person.

Legal and Compliance Questions

We understand that selling unused medical supplies raises legitimate questions about legality and compliance. These answers clarify Zaks' role and how the process works within applicable guidelines.

  • Is it legal to sell unused diabetic supplies?

In many states, individuals may legally sell certain sealed, unused, over-the-counter diabetic supplies. We only consider purchasing items that are legally eligible for resale under applicable laws. If you are unsure whether your specific items qualify, contact us and we will help clarify before you proceed.
  • What is Zaks Diabetic Supply Buyback?

Zaks Diabetic Supply Buyback is an independent diabetic supplies buyer. We are not a pharmacy, medical provider, insurance company, manufacturer, authorized distributor, or representative of Dexcom, Abbott, FreeStyle Libre, Omnipod, OneTouch, Accu-Chek, or any other brand. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
  • Does Zaks sell prescription medications or provide medical advice?

No. We do not sell prescription medications and we do not provide medical advice. If you have questions about your health or your diabetic care plan, please consult a licensed medical professional.
  • How is the final payment amount determined?

Quotes and final payments are subject to inspection and depend on product condition, expiration date, quantity, brand, market demand, and applicable laws. We communicate clearly throughout the process so there are no surprises.
  • Are brand names used on this site official endorsements?

No. Brand names such as Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, Omnipod, OneTouch, and Accu-Chek are mentioned for descriptive identification purposes only. Zaks Diabetic Supply Buyback is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these brands.
